Objectives and Content

The primary goal of the Anaesthesiology course was to equip Health Care Practitioners with advanced knowledge and practical skills. The course covered a range of topics through simulated modules, including:

  • Anaesthesia Training: Participants learned about the latest techniques and protocols in administering anaesthesia.
  • Resuscitation Training: The course included extensive training on resuscitation procedures to prepare practitioners for emergency situations.

In addition to the simulated modules, the course featured general presentations and workshops. These sessions focused on clinical case studies, safety protocols, and the integration of new technologies in anaesthesiology.

Venue and Practical Training

The Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Smart Centre hosted the theoretical components of the course. This state-of-the-art facility provided an ideal environment for learning and simulations. For the practical sessions, participants moved to the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital, where they applied their newly acquired skills in a real-world setting.

Collaborative Efforts

This course was a result of the concerted efforts of three prominent entities:

  • UKZN Extended Learning: Responsible for the overall organization and delivery of the course.
  • Piramal Health Care: Provided support and resources, contributing to the course’s content and delivery.
