Recently, the Alumni Relations Office organized a series of live streaming events for the quarter and semi-final games, bringing together alumni to cheer for the South African national team.

Purposeful Gatherings

The viewings, held at The Pearls and The Pencil hotels in Umhlanga, aimed to show solidarity with the Springboks and to facilitate engagement between the University and its alumni. Mr.

Finn Christensen, the Alumni Relations Manager, emphasized the importance of nurturing relationships with alumni and discussed potential collaborative projects for mutual benefit.

Thrilling Moments

As the matches unfolded, guests experienced a rollercoaster of emotions, with the Springboks’ narrow victories keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. The electrifying atmosphere mirrored the passion shared by alumni for the sport and their alma mater.

Acknowledgment and Appreciation

Ms. Normah Zondo, the Corporate Relations Executive Director, expressed gratitude to the alumni for their enthusiastic participation. She underscored their significance to the University’s success and acknowledged their contributions across various spheres.

The event also served as a platform to showcase UKZN’s recent advancements, including the launch of the new Strategic Plan.

Alumni Voices

Distinguished alumni such as Mr. André Young, Dr. Beki Hlatshwayo, and Dr. Thandi MaThabethe Ngxongo shared their sentiments, praising the initiative and reaffirming their commitment to the University. Dr. Ntsaphokazi Deppa highlighted the importance of alumni staying connected and contributing to their alma mater’s growth.

Encouraging ongoing engagement, Mr. Christensen and Alumni Relations Coordinator Ms. Silindile Mchunu invited alumni to participate in future collaborations and update their contact details for seamless communication.
