UKZN High-Flyer Receives 2023 Health Excellence Rising Star Award.Mr. Mohamed Hoosen Suleman, a fifth-year Medical student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), was awarded the prestigious 2023 South African Health Excellence Rising Star Award.

The accolade, presented by the Health Clinix Group in collaboration with the South African Clinician Scientists’ Society, recognizes exceptional talent and dedication in the field of healthcare.

UKZN Details of the Award Ceremony

The announcement took place during a distinguished awards ceremony held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on November 25, 2023. The event was attended by prominent health experts from across the country, with Dr. Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma, Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, as the special guest.

UKZN Achievements and Recognition

Suleman emerged as the winner from a competitive pool of 150 nominees, showcasing his exemplary commitment to advancing healthcare. His recent accomplishments include representing South Africa at international platforms such as the World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology meeting in Muscat, Oman, where he delivered a notable presentation on ultrasound diagnostics.

UKZN Continued Contribution to Healthcare

Despite his demanding academic schedule, Suleman remains actively engaged in global health dialogues, representing South Africa at prestigious gatherings like the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in Copenhagen and the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
