Dialogue with EFF Student Command

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Student Command presented a list of demands to UKZN management, primarily focusing on immediate disbursement of NSFAS funding allowances and an extension of the registration date.

University Response

UKZN executive director of corporate relations, Normah Zondo, stated that the university has addressed these issues through communication and action steps.

NSFAS Allowances

The university is actively seeking clarity from NSFAS regarding the payment of allowances and registration dates. Meanwhile, preparations for book allowance payments are underway, with the first payment date to be communicated soon.

Registration Progress

Registrations for undergraduate students have progressed well, with enrollment targets for First Time Entering students and returning undergraduates being achieved. The institution is confident that most students will complete their registration on time.

Conclusion

While registration for undergraduate students closes on February 23, Postgraduate registration will continue until March 1 on an individual program basis. UKZN remains committed to facilitating a smooth registration process and ongoing engagement with stakeholders.
