Purpose and Objectives

Admissions Criteria

Prospective candidates for the MBA program should meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold an Honours degree or a Postgraduate diploma at NQF level 8, or equivalent.
  2. Have a minimum of three years’ formal, full-time work experience.
  3. Be at least 25 years old on the 1st of January of the year of first registration.
  4. Pass the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or an entrance examination prescribed by the School.

Program Delivery: The MBA program at UKZN offers flexibility through two delivery formats, allowing students to tailor their learning experience to their personal and business needs.

Curriculum Overview

The program is structured over two years and covers a diverse range of modules:

  • Year 1: Focuses on foundational concepts including research methods, economics, finance, operations management, human capital management, and marketing.
  • Year 2: Involves a dissertation and advanced coursework in strategy, along with elective modules in specialized areas such as business-government relations, innovation, investment management, information systems, international business, and coaching.
