In the URAP ranking system, which prioritizes academic excellence, UKZN is recognized as the fourth-best university in South Africa. This accolade underscores the institution’s dedication to delivering high-quality education and research.

Expressing satisfaction with this achievement, Ms. Normah Zondo, Corporate Relations Executive Director, emphasized the significance of the latest ranking. She remarked, “These rankings validate our position as a leading institution in South Africa and across the continent.

They reflect the ongoing commitment and dedication of our staff, students, and stakeholders.”

UKZN Consistent Recognition on the Global Stage

Various esteemed ranking organizations consistently place UKZN among the top universities in both South Africa and Africa. In the 2023 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), UKZN secured its place in the top 2.4% globally and claimed the fourth position in Africa, marking a notable milestone.

Additionally, EduRank identified UKZN among the top five universities in South Africa and the top six in Africa in its evaluations based on research outputs, non-academic prominence, and alumni influence.
