The Part-time LLB Programme at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) offers a convenient pathway for individuals aspiring to become legal practitioners to obtain an undergraduate law degree through flexible, part-time study. Administered by the School of Law through the Centre for Extended Legal Studies (CELS), the LLB degree is available on a part-time basis at our Howard College and Pietermaritzburg campuses. This program is designed to accommodate individuals who cannot attend lectures during regular working hours.

Admission criteria

  • A minimum APS of 32, excluding Life Orientation.
  • English (Home Language) at Level 5, or English (First Additional Language) at Level 6.
  • Maths at Level 3 or Mathematical Literacy at Level 5.
  • Endorsement or University Exemption on the applicant’s Matriculation Certificate.

For applicants with one or more recognized tertiary qualifications, the evaluation will primarily consider the nature, level, and other pertinent factors of these qualifications. Relevant working experience may also be taken into account in appropriate cases.
