This year, amidst the challenges posed by the global pandemic, UKZN remains steadfast in celebrating academic excellence and the accomplishments of its students.

A Triumph of Achievement

With a total of 10,313 graduands set to receive degrees and diplomas, the Autumn Graduation ceremonies promise to be a testament to perseverance and dedication. Among these achievers, 382 will graduate cum laude and 149 summa cum laude, showcasing the outstanding academic prowess within the UKZN community. Notably, women comprise 68% of the top achievers, underscoring the university’s commitment to gender inclusivity and empowerment.

Virtual Celebrations: Adapting to Change

The virtual Graduation ceremonies, scheduled between May 25th and 28th, symbolize UKZN’s adaptability in the face of adversity. Commencing with the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science, followed by the College of Health Sciences, College of Humanities, and concluding with the College of Law and Management Studies, each ceremony embodies the spirit of resilience and accomplishment.

Embracing Diversity and Excellence

Degrees will be conferred upon graduands who have met rigorous academic standards, including those awarded posthumously. Acting Executive Director of UKZN’s Corporate Relations Division, Ms Normah Zondo, expressed pride in the university’s diverse cohort, highlighting the achievements of students with disabilities and international scholars.

In response to evolving needs, UKZN offers digital academic transcripts and degree certificates, ensuring accessibility and authenticity. University Registrar Dr. Kathy Cleland emphasized the convenience and security of digital documentation, aligning with industry standards and facilitating seamless transitions for graduates into the professional world.
