A UKZN Academic Co-Presents a Keynote Address at An International Conference. Dr. Trishana Ramluckan, an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), recently made a significant contribution to the 21st European Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security.

Collaborating with Dr. Brett van Niekerk from the Durban University of Technology and Mrs. Noëlle van der Waag-Cowling from Stellenbosch University, Dr. Ramluckan co-presented a keynote address at this hybrid conference hosted by the University of Chester, UK.

The keynote, titled “Multidisciplinarity and Multistakeholderism for Cyber Resilience of Emerging Economies: Lessons from Cyber Challenges,” delved into crucial insights garnered from their extensive involvement in both local and international cybersecurity competitions.

Notably, their experiences include securing victory in an international cybersecurity competition in 2021, along with active participation as judges in various other competitions.

In an era marked by escalating cybercrime and the involvement of nation-states in major cyber-attacks, there is a growing emphasis on fostering multistakeholder engagement. The keynote underscored the imperative of multidisciplinary approaches encompassing legal frameworks, crisis management strategies, political considerations, and socio-economic analyses.
