Empowering Leaders for a Changing World

The LDP’s inaugural module, facilitated by a team of seasoned academics including Dr. Jairam Reddy, Ms. Zinhle Mpungose, and Mr. Nigel Chiweshe, delved into critical topics such as The South African and Global Trends in Higher Education, People Management Challenges in Higher Education, and Legal and Ethical Issues in Communication and Promotion. Participants engaged in vibrant case study discussions and presentations, gaining invaluable insights to navigate the multifaceted challenges of leadership.

A Participant Perspective

Mr. Vishnu Govender, School Operations Manager at the College of Health Sciences, shared his profound experience with the program: “Having dedicated over 25 years to the University, the LDP has been a breath of fresh air. The insights gained in the past three days resonate deeply with my daily responsibilities. Despite two more modules remaining, I already feel enriched with knowledge to impart to my team. It has been an honor to learn from Dr. Jairam Reddy, the University’s former Vice-Chancellor, whose work ethic, knowledge, and wisdom are truly admirable.”

Shaping Future Leaders

The LDP is not just about imparting knowledge; it is about nurturing leaders who can articulate a long-term vision for their Schools and Colleges, motivate diverse teams toward shared objectives, secure necessary resources, and stay attuned to trends shaping human resource needs. It is about empowering leaders to not only lead effectively today but to shape a better tomorrow.

Conclusion

UKZN Leadership Development Programme stands as a beacon of excellence, empowering senior staff to navigate the complexities of higher education leadership. With a focus on insight, innovation, and impact, the program shapes visionary leaders poised to lead transformation in the sector.
