We Can Help You Gain Access to UKZN. Potential students eager to pursue a degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) recently had the opportunity to explore their options at the 2020 Access Course Open Day. The event was held at the UKZN Extended Learning (UEL) offices located on the Howard College campus. This event aimed to provide insights into the various Access courses available, helping students gain the qualifications needed for university admission.

Engaging with Future Students

The Open Day attracted many learners, some accompanied by their parents, all keen to learn more about the Access courses offered by UEL. The event provided a platform for students and parents to address any queries they had about the Access and bridging courses. These courses are designed to equip students with the necessary skills and qualifications to meet university entry requirements.

Courses on Offer

UEL offers a range of Access courses, including:

• Foundation Maths
• Foundation Maths Online
• Foundation Physics
• Mathematical Literacy Upgrade to Grade 12 Mathematics
• Certificate in Business Administration
• Certificate in Public Administration

Course Commencement Dates

The intensive two-week Foundation Maths course began on the 13th of January, with twenty students enrolled. This course provides students with a second chance to qualify for university admission. The start dates for other Access programs are as follows:

• Foundation Physics: 3rd February 2020
• Mathematical Literacy Upgrade: 11th February 2020
• Certificate in Business Administration and Certificate in Public Administration: 17th February 2020

Over the past few years, UEL  Access programs have achieved a remarkable 90% pass rate, with a goal of reaching a 100% success rate.
